The Democracy at Work Network (DAWN) of San Francisco, has celebrated its fourth anniversary. DAWN is a network of peer advisors who train themselves and provide technical assistance services to worker cooperatives.
Since its creation, it has provided technical assistance towards 40 worker cooperatives, non-profit organisations and cooperative development organizations, and this year, three new advisers across the United States have completed their certification process.
DAWN training brought new skills to the cooperative that are enable to grow and develop their businesses. As affirmed by Melissa Hoover, Executive Director of the US Federation of Worker Cooperatives, “the network is critically important in helping the worker cooperative to expand their sector’s ability. In this sense, they can meet its need for business advisors and also help the movement retain with highly qualified and motivated cooperative leaders”.
