“Alternativas económicas” is a worker cooperative for which the main objective is the edition of the journal, also named “Alternativas económicas”, a monthly publication dedicated to economic dissemination. The society is composed of journalists with a lot of experience in newspapers such as in El País, Público and El Periódico de Catalunya, and professionals from different sectors including Social Economy. The magazine was presented yesterday at the European Parliament in Madrid. It is now available in kiosks and by subscription. (http://alternativaseconomicas.coop/suscribirse).
The magazine is inspired by the cooperative and journalistic model of the publication that for 32 years has developed the French magazine “Alternatives Economiques”. The Spanish and the French cooperative have established a partnership that includes the exchange of shares and content.
The new publication was created in Spain with the aim of expanding its activities to the Spanish-speaking world as a whole. It has the support of more than 41 partners, 6 of them are workers. The Spanish Confederation of Worker Cooperatives (COCETA), is one of the members of the magazine. The cooperative has collected around 196,000 euros; it is expected that only 10% -15% of revenues will come from advertising.
