CICOPA to represent the cooperative movement at the International Labour Conference

From 28 May to 12 June, the International Labour Conference will initiate a discussion on how to facilitate the transition from the informal to the formal economy. Bruno Roelants, Secretary General of CICOPA has been asked to represent the cooperative movement vision at this event, in the International Cooperative Alliance’s name.

Worker, employer and government delegates from the International Labour Organisation’s 185 member States will focus on a wide range of issues, including labour migration and employment strategies, ways out of informality.

In March 2013, the Governing Body of the ILO decided to place a standard-setting item on the agenda of the 103rd Session of the Conference on facilitating transitions from the informal to the formal economy, under the double discussion procedure, which means that this item will be dealt with at the current session and at the 104th Session of the Conference to be held in 2015, hopefully with the publication of a Recommendation.
