The cooperative “Delicias Criollas”, funded in 2004 in Uruguay, is a valuable economic tool to promote income generation for farm families for the economic empowerment of women. It was created in collaboration with the Womens’ Rural Association of Uruguay, in order to launch a brand of handmade and natural products into the market. In fact, in “Delicias Criollas” 30 women are involved and, as stressed by one of the founders of the cooperative: "working for women is not only to gain economic but also social independence, increasing their self-esteem".

Their specialties are the jams-marmalade made with the local products, such as arazá, guava, and butiá. Their products are also syrups, liquor, bakery, salted goods and candy. All of them are made in San Gregorio de Polanco in order to use raw materials from the area; goods are sold in the capital, Montevideo. In addition the cooperative is composed of 200 farmers.
