Dynamix is a worker cooperative in Swansea, Wales. It was established in 1989 by two friends to promote people’s social participation. As a business owned and run by its employees, over the last twenty two years, it has grown successfully and now has fifteen employee members. Its main principles are summed up by its motto: ‘Serious fun’. It develops its activities in 4 areas: training, consultation and evaluation, facilitation and mediation and resource development. They shared a belief in using the power of play and cooperation to develop people’s abilities to work creatively and contribute to the building of a fairer society. Today, it offers a new manner of experiencing engagement either at work, at school or in the local community. The cooperative uses fun and friendly activities, runs training courses and consultations, and writes publications to show other people why participating is crucial and how to involve themselves and their colleagues.
