Cooperatives are breaking into the film scene. The last example is the documentary “Workers” (available in Japanese) produced by JWCU, the Japan Workers’ Co-operative Union. It shows four worker cooperatives in downtown Tokyo.
The cooperatives filmed include two child centers (Yahiro Hanamizuki Child Center and Tachibana Child Center), a center for senior citizens (Iki Iki Plaza) where not only worker cooperative members, but also service users play active roles in its operation and activities, and a community welfare center (Ayumi Care Service) which, in cooperation with the community, provides support to users.
It was screened for the first time on February 2nd 2013 in Tokyo. You can watch the trailer here (only in Japanese): http://www.workers-movie.com/movie
