On 13 January, Michel Barnier, the internal market and financial services commissioner-designate was heard by the “Internal market and consumers protection” Committee and the “Economic and Monetary affairs” Committee of the European Parliament.

During his hearing, Michel Barnier declared that one of his priorities will be to outline the citizen, men and women as a major issue of the European market, and in this respect, he declared that he intends to focus his attention on the cooperative and the mutual model.
He also underlined the possibility of a “social business act” in order to better support enterprises which fight against exclusion while doing profit.
