On 2 July 2004 on the occasion of the International Cooperatives Day and at the initiative of the management of Central Cooperative Union of Bulgaria, the National Cooperative Museum was opened. The National Cooperative Museum shows different stages of the history of the cooperative movement in Bulgaria – from the foundation of first cooperative in Bulgaria in 1890 to these days. All achievements during this period are result of strict following of cooperative values and principles. The National Cooperative Museum is an illustration for the significant role that the consumer cooperatives play in the public, political and economic life of the country, as well as the reputation of Central Cooperative Union among the international cooperative organizations.
