In the month of November of 2006, upon the invitation of the Labour Ministry and at the occasion of the" Forum - Systematisation of experiences of social economy and models of self management as generators of jobs and employment”, organised by the Labour Ministry, the Argentinian foundation FUNDEMOS and the Italian NGO COSPE, prof. Alberto Zevi, managing director of CFI went to Argentina. Besides the participation to the Forum, where Zevi intervened with a presentation on the" Support Policies to the Italian Cooperative Sector", the Italian delegation also met Employment Secretary Enrique Deibe and the coordinator of the " Competitiveness Programme for Self-Managed Enterprises and systematisation of management models”, Franca Venturi. During the meeting the bases were laid for a future collaboration between the programme and CFI, particularly in the field of credit tools for the development of cooperative enterprises and the specific experience of CFI in the process of employment salvation through the creation of cooperative enterprises.

In February this year, within the framework of a series of encounters on" Development Cooperation and the Development of the Social Econonomy " organized in Italy by the Italian NGO COSPE (Cooperation for the Development of the Emergent Countries) and MLAL (Lay Movement Latin America), the persons responsible of the project" Networks - Networks of Enterprises and Networks of Persons", co-financed by the European union, aiming at the development of worker buy-outs in the province of Buenos Aires, exchanged the CFI’s visit that took place in November last year. The delegation also comprised Javier Garcia, Michel Rimbaud and Alicia Pioli from FCPU, Uruguayan member of CICOPA, as well as Marcelo Kehdi Gomes Rodriguez from UNISOL, new Brasilian member of CICOPA.

During the visit the South American co-operators had the opportunity to meet various Italian cooperatives enterprises. Of particular interest were the visits carried out in the north and in the south of Italy to the cooperatives Scalvenzi and Trafilcoop producing respectively machineries for ecological services and galvanized thread, barbed wire and nails. Two features of Scalvenzi and Trafilcoop which made the meeting particularly intense, meaningful and of good omen: both enterprises are enterprise buy-outs and are leaders in their sectors.
