An increase of 32 % in the creation of worker cooperatives in Spain

Worker cooperatives in Spain have grown by 32% in the third quarter of 2013, compared to the same period last year, according to data recently released by the Spanish Ministry of Employment and Social Security, demonstrating how this business model grows and its resilience in spite of the economic situation. Read more

New EU-rules on public procurement

On January 15th, the European Parliament adopted new rules on public procurement. The new legislation, based on a European Commission proposal published two years ago, and agreed with Council in June 2013, is supposed to ensure better quality and value for money when public authorities buy or lease works, goods or services. Read more

Cooperatives, opening doors to return to Paraguay

ZAPACOOP has been an experience that demonstrates the value of worker cooperatives for the return of workers, who for various reasons have decided to return to their homes after years of wandering. This is the successful case of this cooperative active in the production of shoes as the nucleus of origin had a group of workers who developed the art work in Buenos Aires.
