CICOPA is partner in the second edition of the online course Platform Cooperatives Now!

27 October 2020

After a successful conclusion of the first of the ‘Platform Coops Now’ course, hosted by The New School in New York and Mondragon University in the Basque country in Spain, the second edition of the course started on 26 October 2020. CICOPA is proud to be an international partner of this valuable program that brings together cooperators, practitioners and researchers from across the globe.

More than 140 entrepreneurs, researchers and interested persons are taking part in the course that will continue until 29 January 2021. During the first half of the course, participants gained insights in the history and political economy of online platform capitalism. During lectures held by Trebor Scholz (The New School) and Jose Mari Luzarraga (Mondragon University), participants were introduced to successful cooperative business models and theoretical reflections on digital capitalism. During weekly zoom-calls, participants had the opportunity to discuss the lectures and readings, whilst also adding new insights into the topics of platform cooperatives.

For the second half of the course, participants could choose if they want to follow the entrepreneurial or the research path. Here, they get the chance to develop and discuss their ideas for innovative business models with experienced local partners, including many CICOPA members.

CICOPA is proud to have contributed to this unique learning opportunity as a global partner and is looking forward to continue its cooperation with the Platform Cooperativism Consortium.
